Default Supercharging

Hi people! I'm looking at Supercharging my Honda S2000 but in two mind weather to get it done or not. I've been on the phone to the gaffa at Rotrex Superchargers and he rekons that minimal upgrades to the car will be needed. The supercharger kit will take it to approx 400 bhp which I was told by another source that the S2000 can handle without mods. My S2000 is an 03 Plate AP1 with 117k on the clock. I've had her fully resprayed in the same Monte Carlo Blue to the highest of standards and she looks like a new car.
Rotrex Supercharger said all I will need besides the kit is a ECU, Racing clutch and would be a good idea to upgrade the brakes. I'm looking approx £8k....do I do it???

Your input would be muchly appreciated!

Many thanks

Sebby Out

The FI section will probably be more informative.

Can ask your question there if a mod doesn't move the thread.

Looking for details as well as I hope to supercharge in the future.

If you have the time and the money I'd say do it.. You need the supercharger kit, ecu, and as far as a clutch goes with that power level you could probably keep the oem disk and just run an ACT HD pressure plate. Or go to a SOS disk setup. Brakes wouldn't be too bad of an idea to upgrade while your at it but you don't have to do it.

Just be sure you have the extra time and money in case problems arise.

My OEM clutch (34k miles) slips, at high rpm's, with only 316 rwhp. Car is currently at my buddy's getting a Stage 3+ SPEC Clutch kit to settle that issue Just my experience...

@400whp I recommend beefing up your differential.

With as many miles as you have on your car, you should start by doing a compression leak down test...you may not want to FI after you see those numbers.
If they are acceptable and you decide to continue down the road of FI, you will need the EMS, to get to the hp goals you mention. I am right at 400 whp and run the stock clutch and pressure plate...with no slip at all...even at 12psi and 9K. Don't know why they would have suggested brakes? The stock brakes on an S2000 stop the car quicker than most cars on the road, even hyper expensive sports cars like Ferrari's. As far as the diff goes...if you don't launch the car, you will have issues...but the minute you start trying to launch it, you will probably leave it in the road. Puddy Mod diffs are a good alternative, and you can find him on here.

He said "400bhp" guys, not 400whp. Pretty sure those are 2 different power levels, no?

Damn Euro's and their weird measurements...

You will need a new clutch for sure. You are also going to need a lot bigger injectors if the kit doesn't include them which most don't. You will also need a fuel pump but most kits include that. If you are over 10PSI which I am sure you are you probably will need a map sensor. A fuel pressure regulator is probably a good idea 2 along with a larger radiator. Plus a step colder plugs are needed. Also most people who upgrade to a blower often like to have a wideband gauge and a boost gauge and most FI people upgrade their exhaust.

Long story there is a lot to do when going FI especially if you are going above a basic kit like comptech and SOS stage 1.

I really never hear of anyone upgrading brakes. Brakes are expensive and the stock brakes work excellent in the first case.

A diff is really nice to have but isn't a must. If you don't launch the car or beat up the transmission it isn't usually a problem.
