Default Swapping engines...whats neede?

Hey guys, I'm swapping out my engine some time before the new year. My current setup was an original ap1 motor with AEM EMS and swapping in an ap2 motor but I'm wondering what exactly will I need.

Will everything be a direct bolt on to this and will it fire back up with the AEM? What will I need to change? I know that I'll have to change some settings to accomodate for the larger displacement, but will I be able to fire it back up once the new engine is in and I swap over the manifold, turbo, injectors, etc? I won't be able to see my tuner until a bit of the snow clears so I just want to drive it back to my house from the install shop.

Its a direct swap, nothing needed to fire up as long as its a 04-05 non DBW motor.

I swapped my 01 f20 for a 04 f22 a couple years ago, even runs like stock off the old ap1 ecu - though I get the 9k rpm redline now.

done this swap twice already, once w/ 06 DBW (retrofitted)) motor , now with 05 motor.. works like a charm
It might fire up w/ your AP1 tune, but dont drive it. Gonna need more fuel for the extra .2 liters

he should be alright to drive it from the shop to his house long as hes not boosting...the ems should be able to compensate til you can get a re-tune...AGAIN NO BOOSTING

What about the cam sensors? Does anything need to be changed in the EMS since AP1s have 2 cam sensors and AP2s have 1 cam sensor?

the way i remember it everything works just fine with cam sensors. you simply just don't use the second one.

the only thing i might recommend you swap out is your fuel rail. there is a small bracket that is on the AP1 fuel rail that sits a little differently than the AP2 rail. you can just bend it out of the way but every time i do a swap i just change the rails too. it only takes a minute.
