Matt - got your message the other week, just been real busy with everything! The car is coming along pretty well, should have everything completed in the by the year - fully up and running!

Once tuning is completed I had planned to make a trip to see Skip (ff2skip) in Fredricksburg area. If you haven't started everything by then, I'm more than happy to meet up with you and show you what my setup will look like.

We haven't finalized any official plans just yet, however I am considering a relocation kit for the battery and fuse box, moving them to the trunk. That will allow much easier access to the wastegate bolts, ensuring they stay tight - as well as keep excess heat away from them!

Depending on when you start, you know I am more than happy to make the trip up to Woodbridge and help out!

QUICKAG,

I live in FL but have my office in MD. It just so happens that I'm in MD this week w/ my car (which is very unusual). I'm going to be driving home Sat. AM and assuming Woodbrige (VA?) is where i think it is i'm going to be driving right by. It wouldn't be a problem for me to stop and show you an installed Inline setup if you're available. Just ignore that the car is very dirty from travel

Hey Matt,

I can show you pics, but man, the pics posted above are freaking awesome! If you really want to see more, you can ALWAYS swing by the shop bud, to look at anything or ask questions.

On john's car, we removed the old bracket for the overflow tank, and just put a basic weld in another position. It just really depends where you want it.

John's car also was running just the stock radiator, even at the 500+rwhp he was making and we will probably continue to use the stock ones unless we need some bling factor. The best way to monitor engine temp is NOT through the EMS in my opinion. I would get a radiator hose adapter and connect a temp gauge sending unit on there. That way you'll get a precise reading of the coolant coming from the radiator.

Ya

Here's another option for the coolant overflow tank. I replaced mine w/ an overflow can i picked up from Summit Racing. Added a sighting tube and made a mounting bracket out of aluminum. It works fine and adds a little bling too

Also, here's the aluminum bracket i fabricated to move the fuse box a little closer to the fender. As you can see it's pretty simple. You can get aluminum stock like that at home depot. It's usefull for all sorts of little things like that.

Great info. guys, keep it coming. Where are you guys getting the heat wrap and hose insulation from and cost for it? I also noticed that almost all the pics show an aluminum radiator instead of stock, is it really needed or is this more for dress-up. Does Inline also provide the bracket for coolant bottle overflow relocation or are you using existing stuff? Thanks

All of the above would be very helpful.

This is also a good thing:

Don't worry about the size, it will fit...

I've experienced the wastegate studs backing out and solved that by having a small tack welded to each. Small enough to easily knock off, but it keeps them from backing out. I also had the downpipe studs back out on me. That was a big pita. They haven't done it again, but i'm looking for a better solution for that as well.
I have also thought about tacking those bolts, but that just seems like a completely ghetto solution.

Ya -- any thoughts on this?

There has to be a way to address fasteners backing out/off due to high heat and vibration.

safety wire is a technique i would try, i'm sure the shop that installed your kit can get that done, cause they look very professional.

another member OGPackin used headstuds and he hasn't seen any problems as of yet.

We still haven't found a solution to this universal problem with the external wastegates. We are still trying to find solutions and hopefully we'll be able to come up with an easy one for everyone.

I have contacted Locktite and Permatex to ask if they have any sort of industrial strength high temperature thread locker. In my email I mentioned that I knew of their high temp red product that is good to 450 degrees, yet mentioned we require much higher. They stated that they do not have anything that will hold to a higher temperature.

With the relocation of the battery and fuse box, this will allow much easier access to the wastegate. My plan is to keep a open end ratcheting 12mm wrench in the car and check on the wastegate from time to time! If that becomes to much of a pain, I'll make a quick bead on it.
