TCT noise will not go away despite......
Hey everyone i took my head off to do the 3mm HG and and springs/retainers etc. When i put it back together i had the card in the spokes noise under 3k RPM. thought it was the new springs or a valve adjustment issue but that wasnt it after reading about the tct. so took it out and did the emry cloth, no dice. So i took it back out and found a sandblaster for the worm gearr, no dice. So i figured mine was just too far gone so i bought a new one and...no dice. Still has ridiculously loud ticking under 3k RPM but goes away as soon as i get above that.
The car only has 43,000 miles on it and i have never had this issue before at all. I mean are my slides and chain really messed up already just from taking the head off one time with that low of miles?
Thanks for any input you guys have.

Yeah I clocked the gear. What else could it be then? The hg install was smooth unless the cylinders are rubbing the hg until 3k rpm which makes no sense at all it has to be something to do with the chain and the slides I guess but not a whole lot I could do to mess it up just putting the gear on and off

Did you clock the cam gear when you installed the 3mm HG? If not, the extra tension on the chain might be causing it.

Try making sure all your VTEC pins are in your rockers. Also, check all of your Lost Motion Springs. If you left one out, you will get a lot of racket. I have included my thread about engine noise and what I found to be the problem with mine. Very similar.

check out the bolt that holds the idler and see if it's flush with the cylinder head. a lot of times people don't have the alignment washers on the idler gear right so the bolt doesn't go in all the way. what that does is make the idler gear off set so it sounds like a TCT problem. you'll know right away by looking at the bolt that holds the idler. It shouldn't be sticking out of the hole yet a littler further in then the head then flush.
