Default Test Pipe Concerns

After spending money on my SC I really can't afford to be replacing my engine anytime down the road. I've been reading threads about people using the comptech sc w/ ac + test pipe + exhaust, running very lean. On the other hand people are running the same setup w/o any problems it would seem. This leads me into a few questions i'd like to have answered if at all possibly, of course every car is going to perform different.

1. At stock boost should I be concerned?
2. Are there any reported, cold hard proof, stories about damage do to this setup. Other than Quivers.
3. Will removing my Test Pipe just be my best option?

Thanks.

since not every car is the same, why don't you add those parts and take it in for a dyno.hopefully your engine doesn't blow up on the way to the dyno.

I was really hoping to avoid that if at all possible. Guess the CAT is going back on. Seems to be the easiest solution.

Assuming you are using a Comptech and if you are using the stock pulley it comes with, you will be fine. You will want to take it in just to have the A/F set on it with the test pipe. Your only worries would be if you were running a 7lb pulley instead of the stock 5.5. By the way your engine is not going to blow on the way to the dyno, just keep it out of v-tec. The only time you see peak boost is at high rpm.
Any questions? Otherwise have fun.

Robert,

Everything will run perfectly fine as far as the fpr goes. The only
thing that might trip you up is test pipe. Sometimes those set of the
check engine light which could make the computer run the engine rich.

Subject: Comptech SC Question

I'm having a comptech supercharger w/ AC installed on my 2001 honda
s2000. Aside from the SC i'm also running an aftermarket dual exhaust
and test pipe. Should I be concerned about the car possibly running
lean? Or can the included FPR handle the added air flow?

Thanks.
Robert

Put on your test pipe and head for the dyno. Dyno time is money well spent as you'll find out how much power you're putting out across the powerband, your A/F, and the effects of your test pipe.

i just installed a Megan test pipe yesterday and you can definately feel the extra kick.. since going up in boost, i did notice more power but always felt as if it was being held back a bit especially once VTEC kicked in.. but now, you can actually feel and hear the difference.. i just had a question, it does smell quite a bit.. i was told that if i tune it (which i plan to do on my next day off) it will not shoot smoke out due to richness and the smell will go away, correct me if im wrong.. though i hope im right cause im not trying to see the red and blue lights in my rear view mirror

Without the cat it will always smell like "catless" and there is nothing you can do about that. Sure leaning out the a/f a little bit will help tune down the smell but it will still always be there.
