Default Thermostat and Fan Switch for FI

Which one would be better for FI? I have heard that the Spoon runs too cold and takes a lot longer to get to 3 bars on the temp. gauge. However, I figured with a SC, the extra coolness of the Spoon might be better than the Mugen. They will be coupled with the Hondata IMG. Thanks for your help and opinions!

And does your engine temp ever go from 3 bars back down to 2 bars while driving? Have you ever had any problems with it taking too long to warm up? Thanks a lot!!!

Yes it does go from 3 to 2 somtimes.

But the way I drive I keep it at 3

It will take a bit longer to warm up but it will be hot enuf to vtec with 2 bars.
Is that what you wanted to know?

Yes. I am surprised that it allows you to VTEC even with two bars. Thanks for the info.

If you are planning to do any fuel management in the future then don't bother the thermostat. The thermostat will make tuning difficult.

Thanks Ben. No longer looking for a thermostat at this time. Just a fan switch. Ill order one this weekend. I have my fingers crossed that those lazy bums at the docks work hard and get all the parts in.

Can you quantify that statement? Exactly why would this cause an issue? And what type of issues?

Never had any tuning issues with an e-manage and a Mugen T-stat. Temps stayed from 175-190.

A properly operating cooling system will stay within narrow temp range when the thermostat is fully open. You can tune for that temp range.

Most FI car's runs hotter than a NA anyway.

So does that mean that a Mugen T-Stat and Fan switch is a good of bad thing for FI?
