Default Those that are boosting. Driveability in Winter?

Hey Guys,

Since i've been in the turbo world for a few years now, i have the experience when it comes to power. BUT i've always had All Wheel Drive in my hands. Hence, i never really had problems with traction.

Since I've been thinking of going FI with my S2000 since there are so many great S's out there that have succeeded in doing so, It sounds like a fun and great reliable option. but thats only gonna depend on winter.

The question i have is, do you guys have beater cars? or do you actually drive your cars in the winter as well? I'm finishing up my eclipse and dont know if i'm gonna sell her, or keep her because of the AWD. And hence, can be my daily driver.........hmmm DSM? reliable 400 whp Daily driver? oxy moron. But hey, they are great cars when everything has been replaced and built up well.

But if i do sell her and go FI with my S2000, it would be my daily driver, and that means driving in winter with the snow. Obviously common sense would tell me when too much snow is too much.

But how do yall do it?

I'm not FI yet but I drive my S on the weekends and evenings during summer only. I have an 03 Lancer and a 95 Tacoma for the winter time...

i don't know about FI winter driving, but before i had the turbo i had dunlop winter sport m3's all around on the car and it drove great. i was seriously surprised how well it got around with those tires. i could start at the bottom of a slight incline with about 4 inches of snow on the ground and zip right up with no problem. i am lowered an inch with springs also.

i was going to drive the S in the winter with the boost, but i would be afraid of snow getting in the grill area and blocking air flow. i don't know if this is a legitamit (sp?) concern, just something that might come up.

During the winter, I switch over to AS tires (for cold weather). I don't bother with actual winter tires as I would never actually drive in snow.

As for FI during the winter, I switch off my boost controller and just boost off the 7psi spring. There simply isn't enough traction to safely boost 7+ psi in cold weather with a RWD platform such as the s2000.

What about All seasons? i have the eagle F1 all seasons that just came out and they seem to have some nice tread on them.

but Macprotoge, i think you would be fine for driving because if it wasnt, i'm sure they wouldnt make all the front mount intercoolers they have for cars... i.e. evo ect. I never had a problem with my GSX with a front mount at all.....Pretty sure you'd be fine

I live in ga so there isn't any snow but I also have a beater car.

1984 Toyota tercel 221,xxx miles and still gets 25-27 miles per CHEAP gallon of gas.

This seems like a good option
