Also, most of the sleeving we've seen on the S2000 has been pretty drastic. Boring out the whole cylinder and some of the block and dropping in darton sleeves.

More traditional sleeving just bores out a few millimeters of the cylinder and press fit a thin tube in. This is much easier but leaves the block as an open deck design so you only get half the advantage of a Darton sleeve.

I intend to install a block guard by welding it between the cylinder and block, then bore out the cylinders (removes any warpage from blockguard and welding) and install thin sleeves.

So what would the tolerance be for the "scratch" depth?
I think the manual has an actual figure but if you can see it or feel it with your fingernail it is too much.

If you can hone it out great, otherwise you can bore and use oversized pistons (OEM do 0.1mm oversized I think).

Any thing more than that and you really have to sleeve.

I decided to go with a stock size sleeving and keeping everything the same for now. If it happens again i'll let it sit until they come out with a solid block for us and go turbo.

If you are on a budget try getting a good machine shop to install a thin walled dry liner and put a standard piston/ring set back in. I would set the bore clearances a little bigger than standard so you dont have to run it in forever.

Make sure you balance the new piston against the existing ones. Also crack test all the pistons around the ring lands to make sure there isnt any boost related damage lurking there.

Chris.
