Default Timing pull from high intake temps

I think this would be more in line with a nitrous setup than supercharger or turbo, but I guess it would work for the low buck boost applications too.

the factory ECU will retard timing when it senses hot intake temps correct? Has anyone measured timing values with different IAT readings? I suppose this is something I could look at since I have an OBD2 logger. Could a small electronic device be created that when WOT is achieved alters the IAT signal to the ECU to one that is the same as extremely hot intake temps? This would in turn cause the ECU to pull timing right? This could be cheap and effective way for someone trying to run a relatively large direct port nitrous setup or even wet shot that does not need the ability to tune fuel with a controller. Instead of spending the money on something that can tune fuel/timing (looking at probably $400 entry level at the best) a cheap doohicky like I just described could pull timing maybe 5 degrees or more if necessary.

You could even couple this with a VAFC if you wanted to try to run high boost on some sort of low buck turbo setup where you didnt want to purchase a decent engine management solution, but I didn't tell you to.

If you have already spent X amount of dollars purchasing and insuring this car then you can probably afford the extra insurance of and EMS or at least a piggy back.

thats not the point

the question is would that work?

its no different than something like a VAFC altering the MAP signal to change the a/f ratio. You're just changing another variable to tune a specific engine parameter.

Hell, it could be the new gizmo that I sell along with nitrous kits that sets me apart from other companies.
