Here's a picture of my factory ap2 vs titanium intake retainers. Are they ok? Or are they pushing down too far?
No problems or anything just unknown miles on titaniums and don't know how to tell if they need changed or not.
Thanks,
Matt
that doesn’t look good. I’ve had super techs when I bought my car and I don’t recall them being so low.
ive seen most aftermarket f series retainers calling for AP1 retainer keepers so this may be a case where ap2 retainer keepers were retained. The ap1 and ap2 keepers might look the same at first glance but the angle at which they were cut is different and will yield a dropped valve
this is in addition to the fact that titanium retainers don’t last as long in our engines and OEM is probably best
Hard to tell as the aftermarket parts are cut differently than oem parts so hard to compare in pics.
Everyone should know that titanium retainers are wearable parts unlike OEM, plan to replace them on regular intervals where oem parts can last the life of the motor. Titanium retainers will break if not replaced in time, so they bring other concerns besides pushing through the top, and both are worth worrying about. You will be replacing them sometime down the road, if you don't know how long they have been in there I would plan to do them sooner rather than later. Titanium retainers work well in race motors, where motors are taken apart on a regular basis. Lightweight but not as durable as oem.

great to know, I tend to daily drive the car, doing about 6000 miles each summer... looks like I'll be buying some ap2 retainers and keepers
