ive done my research and looked at tons of forums but i find different answers to my questions so here they are. turbo's will decrease your engine life far more than a s/c at the same boost and imagine you had really good tunes for both setups. turbo cant do long trips without having to cool down, turbo's have more tuning and reliability issues, turbo's dont last as long as s/c's. superchargers need to spool as well and dont make power under 3k, a s/c will greatly decrease your mpg driving normal or spirited and a turbo doesnt affect mpg unless you use it. im talking about a centrifugal s/c. i want to go turbo but kinda scared cause i dont know enough.

This is all just wrong lol...
if you want to come into reliability, if done right a turbo should actually last longer since you only go into boost on moderate to heavy throttle , So with a supercharger the engine is seeing more time on boost IMO

Yes you can make a long road trip. Many factory turbo cars do, if you do your turbo installation right then it will be as safe as a factory setup. Now SAFE and RELIABLE are two different things. If you boost 25psi on a stock motor it's not going to be as reliable as a factory turbo setup...obviously...but if you move all engine components susceptible to heat damage away from the turbo, wrap all components that you can't move with "cooling tape", wrap or coat the manifold, dump tube, and downpipe, use a turbo blanket and heat shielding, and properly install all cooling and oil lines then you have nothing to worry about. The two biggest issues with turbos and "long trips" and heat are electrical fires due to fuse boxes melting...and fires created by oil leaks spraying on the manifold. If you move the fuse box or heat shield it, then that takes electrical fires out of the equation. Next is the oil leak...check your lines often and install and route them properly and that takes that out of the equation. Make sure your coolant lines (assuming you have a ball bearing turbo) are routed properly so they aren't too close to heat and make sure there are no leaks. That should pretty much do it for reliability on long trips...tuning aside.

A supercharger can avoid a lot of the issues mentioned two posts up just by how it's designed. It's located away from your electrical components and it can come with a self contained oil system.

But just as mentioned, if a turbo setup is done right, the problems can be avoided.

to the OP, the information that you got that from is all incorrect. Stick to S2KI.COM this website has the best information on our cars performance needs.
