Default turbo blankets gt35r

Little backround on my setup pfab top mount gt35r .82 hotside just ordered a turbo blanket because I was warping the fusebox and other stuff in that area.

I install the blanket and go to a friends house 15 min away pop the hood after just normal driving on the highway to find the turbo has a slight red glow to it. Is this bad for the turbo? Are my egt's to high? I'm running aem ems. The +'s for the blanket are to keep the heat down and inside the turbo and to supposidly spool a little quicker. There is a big noticeable difference in the heat in that area but is it okay for the turbo to be red.

Thanks

I checked it again with some easy driving and it didn't have as much as a glow. Maybe I need to invest in a turbo timer?

Fresh, sounds like your tuner has NO timing in your car at light load. Who tuned it? can you get a log, or timing map for us to look at? Turbo should NEVER be red at cruise.

I could get the map I just don't know how to use the aem software and would have to figure it out. A guy here in richmond va tuned it. How could this be corrected? Its not a bright red or even a red but a slight glow. I'm just afraid of when I drive it hard what it will look like. I contacted him and he said if the manifold is not red your alright and it only started glowing when I put the blanket on :/

The tuner should be able to provide you with a map showing timing while on the dyno, might give you a quick idea of the state of affairs. I personally think your okay.

I would most deff get a blanket to keep the temps down under your hood. The more you can control your temps the more reliable your car will be.

It seems to be alright after driving it a few times. I'm not sure if this is just in my head but it seems that the car is pulling slightly harder maybe due to the underhood temps being lower and my air intake from being heat soaked. So far so good on the blanket ill keep it posted if anything detrimental happens.
