Turbo to downpipe leak

Default Turbo to downpipe leak

Hey guys, I have a question, i have a mase engineering kit, with a 5857, and its leaking where its connected to the downpipe, i just bought the car last week and am new to FI, and therefore dont know why its leaking, i tightened the v-band down as far as it would go, any ideas as to why its leaking? thanks

Crack in downpipe?

Nah, it's coming from in between the turbo and dp for sure, it doesn't look like it has a gasket on it

heres a picture, you can see where the exhaust gas is dirtied up the v-band

Umm there is no gasket. It's vband lol.

maybe the surfaces are gunked up or rusted, take the vband off and check if the flanges are making a good seal

So your going to have the flanges cut off and new ones welded on? I bet the v band clamp is f@#ked. Try a new one of those first if anything. Take old one off and make sure it's on there right and both surfaces mate flush to each other.

Try cleaning the mating surfaces of the flanges first. The clamp might be stretched out too so you could try a new one.

What everyone else said, just clean up the V-band mating surfaces and if that doesn't do it, try a new clamp. Seems silly to start hacking and welding.
