Default Turbo Engine Rebuild - Help in bearing decision...

Currently having the motor rebuilt. Currently setup with a Precision 6262 running 14psi. Before the rebuild the motor was bone stock and pushing 460hp. I will need to replace the rod bearings at the minimum, but not sure whether to use ACL race bearings or stick with OEM. I'm hoping to get it comfortably in the 475hp range. My concern is with clearances, knowing Hondas are very specific and coded on the bearing size. Can the OEM bearings handle the power? Or would ACL be a good upgrade? the crank is getting polished but not machined, and i'm keeping the oem rods and pistons. Any experience and advice is appreciated.

OEM bearings are more than sufficient for your power goals. As for the ACL's, they have superior material but they are usually a bit on the loose end of recommended clearances. The reason for this is to allow a thicker layer of oil to surround the crank and rod journals. Hope that helps, gl with your build.

OEM bearings wouldn't be my first choice in this application. They're not way off but not what I'd go with in terms of tollerance. Grab some ACL bearings, I chose them for a reason. Honda clearance is very tight, which is all well and good in a N/A motor but you're going to be super-heating the oil to a degree for sure regardless of your cooling capabilities within reason. Also you're going to be putting it under FAR more stress with all that power (torque).

PRICE!!!! ACL is also cheaper!

It's not to say stock bearings can't hold 800hp even, they can but they're not the optimum choice PLUS I believe they're more expensive then the superior ACL bearing choice with the proper clearance.

Call Mike Laskey @ Laskey racing, google it. He'll tell ya exactly what you need, probably sell you it too I suppose.

I've had Honda bearings on 1100+hp cars without issue. If you know how-to mic the bearings correctly go with Honda OEM. If not just get some ACL bearings. Either one works well.
