Default TURBO AND GEARING

Im NA at the moment running 4.57's.

Going Turbo in the short term. Just wanted to know for daily driver/street purposes is it better to change the FD back to stock 4.10's when i go turbo. I know some guys run 3.9's with Turbo for 1/4 mile purposes. Will i have traction issues with the 4.57. I like the 4.57's for NA but not sure about for Turbo application.

Any advice will be great!

Thanks

You'll definitely have traction problems... if you do FI right.

The stock ratio is pretty good. 4.57 is a bit low but stick with it and if it doesn't work consider a built diff with whatever ratio you choose.

I later on want another shit box car to get sideways but I don't wanna try it on a public road on my cr with potenzas....lol

Plus there is so much room for something to go wrong.

I think 4.56/7 may be too much for boosted. Personally I would stick 4.10s back in

I have 4.77 on my turbo, its not a big deal. You really don't make much use of the boost in 1st any way cause of the load. I think stock gearing is better cause you stay in boost longer but if you have the gears not really a big deal.

Cool thanks guys.

The gears really make it easy to get the car sideways. My concern is that with the boost and the gears it may become alot more difficult to keep her on the straight and narrow. So will require alot more caution.I prefer a setup that i can aggressive with rather than a setup that i have to be cautious with.

@Hondabim. I am also going with the GT3076R so will be similar setup. Glad to hear you enjoying it!

I reckon ill leave the diff as is and see how she runs with the Turbo.

If its too hectic for my liking ill move back to the 4.10's.

I must be the odd man out then, I HATE the gearing in the car.

Stock 4.10's.

It's all I do is shift.

I agree. Feels like I am always shifting. Long gears are GREAT for a turbo car. I've driven some other BMW's with really long gears and its wonderful for street driving. Almost never leave 2nd gear around town because it goes from 30 mph to 75 mph.
