Default Turbo Heat Blanket?

Just curious if anyone has had any issues with the turbo coming very close to the hood with the LoveFab Sidewinder GT1 manifold? Such as the hood heat covering/lining is starting to melt and look bad where the the turbine is close to it. I was thinking of buying a heat blanket for the turbine to fix this problem. Gotham racing makes one; but I'm not too sure if it will fit the T3/T4 60-1.
Anyone looking into this also or is using a heat blanket and what do you think of it?

I've never used one of those bag things, but I need to come up with something. I'm going to try to build a heat shield to try to help out because the lining of my hood is melting also, and I usually try to pop the hood after I drive.

Same here, next year I will get a vented hood!

Avented hood will not help as much as you think. I just picked one up and all that happens is the underside of it turns to playdo after a driving. A thin aluminum heatshield is the best way to go IMO. HKS makes one for thier GT series turbos, or you can go the cheap route and fab one up like I did. It's not pretty but drops the temp of the hood from 500deg to 120deg (as read with a hand-held temp gauge). I'll snap some pictures tomorrow.

That's exactly the same thing I do for now.

Here is a link to a heat shield I found for $65. http://www.fostertruck.com/garrett.htm But you could probably make one yourself like this cheaper.

^ Thanks for the idea. I actually already have the sheet metal for it, but I just haven't gotten around to doing it. I'm just worried that it will be another thing to rattle though.

I just took the lining off. Mine was also beginning to melt.

That heat shield looks pretty good. Is there one for the GT series turbo?

HKS has a really cool looking heat shield that fits the GT28 and 30. I emailed them about one that would fit my 60-1(which is about the same as the GT35 and am waiting on a reply.

marking the thread. I have a heat wrap kit for the exhaust housing, but a heat shield that isn't making contact would be nice.
