which turbo kit?
been reading some of the posts here and i still can't decide. i would like to start boosting my s2k but i was wondering which kit would give me around 500 whp and still reliable for everyday use and also will be cali street legal. thanks for any help that you guys can give me.
Greddy is BY FAR the best kit and EXACTLY what you're looking for.
500whp can EASILY be hit on the Greddy kit. Just make sure you upgrade the blinker fluid. It'll keep the car engine temps cool for the differential.

To answer the question, you have goals that are in conflict. 500whp and Cali legal means that you're going to have to get another car, period. If you want Cali legal, you're going to have to get the Greddy kit. I have one and I like it, but the most you can expect out of the system (and staying legal) is right around 300whp. Have you ever driven an S2k with 300whp? Don't be fooled by a lot of people in this thread... 300whp is plenty to get you in trouble. My car doesn't even quite have 300whp, and it is as much fun as I want. Of course, I'm not a young kid anymore, I don't track my car, and I don't street race... so I don't really have the need to go much higher. I just wanted a reliable boost in power over the stock S for my weekend and fun.
If you want high HP, you're going to have to forget the street legal thing.

it was too easy

OP...Look, if you truly read other posts, you either didn't read far enough to know that you're not going to get 500whp on a greddy kit.
And you're definitely not going to make that power and be street legal.
Like VBB said, you're gonna have to either go greddy and be legal and not make that 500whp power, or not be street legal and get a different kit all together.

If money, and street legality isn't an option, and you want quality, I recommend P-tuning. That will give you the safe reliability and customer support you're looking for to go 400whp and up.
Greddy is a very straight-forward kit (and your only option in Cali) though. People dislike it because of the cost per horsepower ratio, but if you can find a quality used one, the price is bearable.

Why does everyone on here constantly recommend P-tuning for reliability. Read the P-tuning thread, the people who bought the kit are having mass problems with the fans, oil pump, wiring, etc. There kit is beautiful, and well designed. But it is probably the most failure prone kit you can buy. Way to many failure points with all those oil lines, pumps, etc. Simple is always better when you want reliability. If you want carb legal you only got 2 choices, Greedy or supercharger. My opionion go supercharger. You will not be happy with the Greedy's low power potential.
