Default Turbo kit vs building your own?

Well ive had my s2000 for around 2 years, im now looking to give it some more go fast stuff. an my last cars was a turbo'd integra an i absoulute loved it an wish i never got rid of it. anyways I wanted to know that would it be better to either build up your own turbo kit or just buy one from some company that already made one. im not really looking for Huge horsepower just something to tip over the 300 mark, and also not break the bank.

Many of your answer are in the FI section, for a quick one, it will be cheaper to get a kit, since you only want a little over 300 whp, get the greddy kit, cannot go wrong with that kit and is very reliable

I would buy a kit if you are getting something new. The kits now a days for the s2000 are very good. People used to always piece together kits because there weren't a lot of good kits for the s2000 out, now there are many.

I'll tell you this from experience, and before this gets moved. Prepare to spend 5k at a minimum. This is not an integra. And if you don't have serious fabrication skills and equpiment, don't even attempt to build your own kit. Luckily I have both and built about 75% of my kit, and I still spent 5k buy the time it was tuned and finished. If you don't have 5 to 10 thousand to invest don't even waste your time. Buy the way the greedy kit blows. Go with pfab, inlinepro, fullblown, forgedperformance, or ptuning. Happy building.

if you build your own your going to spend a lot more. most part is the manifold. building a custom manifold will cost you tons.

I built my own kit, Got mostly everything used.. and was shooting for 700whp....

I got everything for about $4000 diggin for deals...Hard to come by it seems with these parts.

Took me 4 months to build the kit but at least I dident drop it all at once!

Right now I think the best bang for buck turbo kit is the fullblown stg1. But be prepared to spend $4.5k for a new one including engine management. The other option is buying a complete used one about $3.5K or jump into a supercharger.

I was going to say the same about the greedy kit but didn't want to be the first one to say something. For the money it isn't bad but u get what you pay for.

Best bet is probably the full-blown. Although the others mentioned are also good kits like the inline and ptuning
