Default Turbo options

New to the forum. Picked up my 02 AP1 last year. Fixed all the leaking and worn maintenance items. Installed an AEM infinity unit, FIC 1200cc injectors and 3 bar map sensor. Still need to upgrade fuel pump. But I have read hundreds of posts for turbo kits. Was looking at SOS or Ptuning kit but all kits have some negative reviews. Want to make around 450-475 on pump gas with water meth injection. And low 600's on race fuel for special occassions. Worried about heat on some kits and exhaust routing. Please throw out some suggestions with the least amount of relocation of engine parts (a/c lines, battery, fuse box, Maybe oil filter ok). Thanks!

Is it true that there band clamp style turbo tends to work it's way loose and the water lines to the turbo tend to leak being too close to the hot housing? They also require a scavenge pump for the return oil?

False.

I have yet to have Vband issues. I converted my coolant lines to Evo hard pipes, I have not had any coolant issues.

Yes, it uses a scavenger pump, no big deal.

Main problem is the engine mount, which I solved. Shave 1/8 inch off each insert, vibration is significantly reduced.

Only drawback is the boost creep due to wastegate size/placement/exhaust diameter size. Stick to the 3076 series turbo and you will LOVE it. Using the 3076 you will only boost creep to 12psi or so. I have a GTX352 Gen 2 and I creep to 17psi, which I have learned to accept. The cr is a damn animal on only 17psi (571whp dynojet, 517 on a mustang dyno)

Which mount did you use? I almost ordered that kit but it's hard to part with your money and not see any product for 4 months or more. Wonder why they don't keep any in stock if they have them made in batches. Then all they need is to order the turbo you spec out.

I did. If you look under my threads, I did a pretty extensive write-up/review on it. Let me know if you have any questions. I’m always happy to talk cars.

Yes, I read it. I've only built Porsche turbo cars for the last 30 years so never installed watercooled turbos on a car. That being said I believe the 6262 BB precision would meet my goals. Saw your vtec connector. Can it still be hooked up with the FBM kit?

that is just the oil pressure switch for vtec, and I had to pull and plug that sensor for the manifold to clear. You can turn off the sensor in hondata so everything works as it should. It’s just a dummy safety to not engage vtec until the engine is ready. Just let it heat up properly before getting on it, and you’ll be fine. Turbo heats it up quicker anyways. Lol

If you really want that sensor, you could probably put a 90 bend fitting in it so it is out of the way, but I just removed it since I’m the only one to drive my car so didn’t need to worry about someone trying to redline it right after a cold start.
