To: turbo owners
Im sure everyone has a certain routine they do, and with every step thats in the routine, theres has to be a reason.
So, what do you do to maintain your car, and why do you do the things you do?

First time i start the car for the day:
- Check engine oil
- Check coolant level in radiator
- Check brake and clutch fluid level
- Check to ensure that oil filter is on tight
- Check to make sure the oil filler cap is tight
- Check to make sure the wastegate and BOV bolts are tight
- Check to make sure the the turbo and manifold are tight
- Check to make sure air filter is on tight
- Quick look around to see if there are any leaks or anything seems amiss.
Turn key and start her up.

Coolant, brake / clutch fluid, oil, do a quick check of the oil filter, look for leaks, and thats about it.
I'll let the car idle and make sure nothing sounds amiss and all my gauges read properly.
I did most of these things prior going to turbo anyway, so its not much different.

yes yes technically if your car is running fine with no problems you shouldn't need to worry about anything... but I have really bad luck and as a result I'm very paranoid so I go through that checklist. But trust me, it doesn't take any longer than a minute or two so It doesn't bother me at all to do it.

Yeah...
Plus I like to look at the engine bay (go figure) so I don't mind opening the hood for a second before I start her up

Does anyone get sludge built up from oil being burned at hot temperatures? If so, what do you do about it?
