The EMS comes with this two-step program?? How exactly does this work?

well its rather easy to set up in AEM: click on the setup tab then the rev limiters, followed by 2step rev limiter, then options 2step. once the box appears put the switch always on and indicate the rpm you want to engage the 2 step. Put in a value for speed such as 5mph so AEM know not to use the 2 step when the car is traveling above that number. I hope that helps.

Thanks blues, I forgot how it was done. It's been awhile since I played with my AEM.

Does this help a lot for launching?

it depends on the setup, but it stablizes the boost so I could floor it and not have to worry about traction so much. During testing, we found the current settings will build boost to 15psi on the line and once the car moves the boost can go to its highest boost setting via the boost controller...

you are talking about two different things in this thread. A two step rev limit is just that a second rev limit, when you start using the ignition timing to start a combustion process in / through the exhaust to spool the turbo this is generally called anti-lag.

The way I would set up an anti-lag in the AEM, is to use the two step to hold the rpm with a ignition cut rather than ignition retard, and then use the anti-lag when you get over 70% throttle. this way you can hold the two step rpm, and then hit the anti-lag and launch after the first pop.

I would also use an igntion cut for the main rev limiter on a turbo car rather than ignition retard; to keep from 'popping' the turbo when you hit the main rev limit.

* anti-lag is tremendously hard on the turbo.
