Default Underhood heat

Thinking up ideas for the winter projects and considering all of the above. For those of you who have dealt with this stuff I have a question or two about each.

For those who have tried Jet Hot coating of your header, what was the cost and were you satisfied? Did you measure any change in under hood or intake temps after using?

As far as the typical low temp thermostat, will they allow the car to three bars normally or do they make it run too cool. This is for an average use street car, no track, but it gets really boggy when hot and am looking at all possibilities. Any feedback appreciated. I have read the J's and the Mugen are a little extreme but maybe there is one slightly cooler than stock that I have not heard of?

And as far as vented hoods go, a couple of the off the shelf ones look ok to me, and I am sort of ok with the DIY look hoods too, but have read mixed things like actually that they increase under hood temps. That seems hard to believe but any experience, especially anything with temp readings, please fill me in.

Thanks

Correct, but my intake is under the hood, right over the header SOT SC style. Underhood temps will help me a lot.

Most curious what people have seen for underhood temp reduction with a header coating. Wish I could do that right now, but down to one car until my order comes in in October.

I used Black Satin Header Coating (thermal barrier). I don't have any before/after temps. I also never had any heat soak issues with my vortech kit. I just did it as a precaution.

I've had jet hot that came on a berk header and I, along with many others, have had it flake off. I had mine warrantied and ended up selling it before putting it back on. I've heard swaintech has a more durable finish/coating

thermostat is not going to really change underhood temps, vented hood can but not to a extreme degree

Since I only drive my S in the summer it see's a lot of hot days. Initally whenever I was stuck in traffic my car would overheat and the only way it would cool down is if my hood was popped and I blasted the heat. My T4 manifold is wrapped but still gives off a lot of heat. I decided to follow to DIY vented hood. It helped a lot. It does not overheat anymore. And you can literally see the heat rise out of the vents at a stoplight. and as far as rain, it all evaporates lol its gets that hot

Nice work, looks good. I have never taken note of a hood with the insulation off. I think what would work for me is a NACA duct on the passenger side feeding cool air to the my intake where the stock battery sits, and vent the three center spots close to the windshield. I wonder how that would look?

I would laugh but I read somewhere a guy with my kit used in a race car cut a hole in the firewall and routed his intake filter into the passenger footwell. Kind of the reverse.
