Default Upgraded heat exchanger/radiator for comptech novi1000

Hi,

Fitted a 3" pulley on a novi1000 its hitting 13.7psi max, the stock comptech radiator is no good it will heatsoak pretty damn quickly. I'll bew wanting to lower IAT's and this is main objective.

Has anyone had any experience of upgrading the heat exchanger, getting a cobra pump and plumbing the pump to the aftercooler then to the radiator (should aid flow and cooling as opposed to straight from pump to radiator).

If so did your IAT's drop by much? or any other experiences/comments you wish to share would be good.

have just bought a cobra bosch pump and this radiator (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-CINQU...#ht_1717wt_840)- it almost but not quite fills the front section of the S but has spare all around which is good. This radiator is popular in the UK due to its price and the fact its actually fitted to a small FIAT car and is of good proportions.

Could it be the novi is getting overspun or going outside its efficiency range thus can't cool down, i cant see it myself?

Thanks in advance.

You are only over spooling the blower with that pulley if you are exceeding 8500rpm. What are you revving to? But regardless the smaller the pulley you fit on the blower, the faster it is spinning at every rpm and your IAT should see an increase as a result. I was able to keep my IAT under 135F in the most severe conditions with a 2.7" custom pulley and was comfortable with this. Typically at cruising it would be 125F. This is running the stock Comptech A/C system with a second heat exchanger (radiator) chained in the loop. What IAT temp are you logging currently with the stock system?

Yes, but the injection is multi port, aft of the IAT sensor. So my IAT register is pre injection temp.

Ok, if your monitoring temp via the Gemu it is off by 10c , measured at ambient the obd 2 reader is more accurate.

I have an ap 1 9k, I have cheap project under way to reduce iats.

Should I just use the same pump and all and get a cheap second comptech H/E/radiator chained in the loop instead of redoing the whole system with a bigger new pump?

Depends on how much money you feel like spending. A bigger pump with the single large heat exchanger should still work marginally better then what I did, just for the fact that there is more fluid. It will weigh quite a bit more though too. Your going to be the best judge of how effective your current cooling system is working for your boost level and driving habits and how much you need to improve it. In the past when I've had cooling issues, I really start noticing a difference in performance when the IAT started getting beyond 135 on my Emanage data logging, now if what AJ says is true, that's going to be 145F actual, which is getting up there. Anything under this should be safe though if your tuned there. The main thing is to keep the system working efficiently enough so that it doesn't have wild swings and then tune for the high end of what you see your IAT. I really dont get but a 10F swing in IAT under high load from just normal cruising, so that tells me its pretty consistent and my AC is working pretty well.

That is the identical setup I use and it works great. That HX is quite heavy compared to the stock one but it looks like a full-on air-to-air intercooler
