Default To Use an AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator or not

So last year on my Race Gas tune I had some WG issues and after all was said and done I made 610 @ 20psi.

On my pump tune the car was running really rich so I had Evans touch up the pump tune via email and I never ran the race gas. I am going back in March to have a re-tune on the Race gas. I will be using the smallest nozzle and injecting straight water to just cool the intake, I am also adding a Kenne bell Boost a Spark and a Kenne Bell Boost a pump, my Fuel pump Duty cycle was at 83%. I have the AEM FPR, but wondering if I should use it? It would be nice to make some more power, however I just want the car to make the power with the fuel system not working as hard. I wouldnt want to go over 650.

Anyway will the ID1000's benfit from the FPR, or will it just be detrimental?

I will be tuning on Q

It's my understanding that the ID1000's can really take well to increased pressure (and help lower duty cycle)

Were you @ base pressure last year?

I have seen some people up near 70-80 psi with them.

Shouldn't you be asking Jeff for this advice since he's tuning it?

He would be the best person to ask imo, see what he recommends.

He will be tuning my car in the next month or so, the support he offers his customers is second to none.

What's the harm in using one? If you need it, it's there. If not, don't worry with it. I'd rather have it on the car, and ready to go, then need it and have to go through the process again.

I have one, haven't really touched it other to set base pressure and left it alone.

Joey if you are still using the 255 Walbro and it is unmodified you can’t add much pressure w/o issues with flow rate. As will all pumps as the pressure increases the flow decreases and vice versa.

Check out the below graph, I believe you are using the standard 255 pump (If my memory serves me) at about 80PSI the flow starts dropping WAY off. Now if you see 45PSI at the rail it is probably closer to 55-60PSI at the pump, add 20PSI of boost (AEM is a 1:1 Regulator) and you get 75-80PSI at the pump. If you want more details on this check out my fuel system link below.

Just for reference I threw toghether a quick chart. This is one I am using to determine which pump / injector / pressue setting / voltage..... so I can determine what I am going to use.

yeah, from what I have seen the kenne bell boost a pump does wonders with the Walbro 255, but I see what you mean
