Default To valve or not to valve...

I´ll start my head build this week but can´t decide on parts/brands. I think I´ll go Supertech dual springs and titanium retainers, never heard anything bad about them.

I heard the exhaust valves can drop due to the heat, want to upgrade them but what about the intake ones, waste of cash on a low milage head? Hmmm...

I would upgrade both. Stainless steel black nitrided intake valves and inconel exhaust valves.

While you are in there, I don't see why you wouldn't upgrade both.

Changing stuff can be a downgrade sometimes, these engines are awesome and could have good valves from start.

Thanks, will do both. Ferrea? Other good options?

For drag cars making power in the 900+ range we use valves with thicker stems and a different valve job to help the stuff last longer.

Also, supertech has stiffer spring availability than Ferrea.. I think ferrea taps out at around 100lbs on the seat, supertech goes up to 120 or so if I remember correctly.

Interesting, thicker valve stems should mean more weight? Or do you use other materials? We used titanium valves in a customer engine a while ago, is that common in these engines? Worth it?

Thanks guys, really helps to get your opinions.
