Default Vibra technics mount question

I’ve gone to fit my mounts today but I’m unsure if the top plates need to be reinstalled on the vibra technics mounts???

It looks like if you don’t use them the motor/engine height will be slightly different?

I’ve email vibra tec to see what they say also...

Thoughts?

Did you check the other thread that was updated earlier today? https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-fo...ounts-1078766/
Yes engine will sit ~5mm lower unless you put some washers in instead of those top plates.
If you do get a response from vibra techs (I tried without success on another matter) please share.

I've used it with the oem heat shield for...additional heat shielding. Everything seems to work fine. My downpipe actually runs super close to the engine mount so every little protection helps.

Thanks both of you.

No I didn’t check the other thread. Just came straight on the board to ask the question, very suprised at the timing of the thread

I’m going to install them with the heat shield then.

Spoke to Vibra tech today.

They told me that the mounts are designed to fitted WITHOUT the OEM heatsheild/ plate.

I explained that in my opinion the motor/engine would sit slightly lower but the chap confirmed (about 4 times) that they are not to be used and their mounts do not deform as much as OEM (when the weight of the motor/engine is loaded on to the mount).

So I will be fitting mine without.

Hope this helps

hey thanks for that jim. they're really hard to get ahold of. last time i tried they were on the other side of the world and didnt respond to my email either.
i think im going to leave my oem heatshield on. in my case, the downpipe is literally not even a 1/2" from the heat shield, should provide some extra heat protection.

If it isn’t causing an issue then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thread size on the stock bolts that goes in to the block?
That would be M10x1.25mm, pretty much same on all M10 nuts and bolts on this car.
