Thumbs up Vortech 5th Injector Question

Hey guys,
So I've searched for awhile but there doesn't seem to be much info about the vortech supplementary injector.

I am just finishing up my vortech install on my 05 and I decided not to install the black box because I will be getting tuned via emanage soon, but I just noticed the 5th injector plug comes off the black box. Is it ok to leave off or is there anyway to connect it without the vortech timing box? Sucks I already tapped the fuel rail for it so it seems like that might have been a waste.

Any help would be great!

Best,
Fitz

Well you can tune it without the black box through the emange. But i hope you have bigger injectors depending on your tuner, and pulley used.

Your other options are either using the E-manage now. Or ditching the VT rising rate fuel pressure regulator for an adjustable comptech one. You can adjust/increase fuel pressure to add more fuel and effectively remove the need for the 5th injector. They cost about $300 new from CT- engineering. Every once in a wile one turns up used for half the cost or less. So if you have the black box and have already tapped the fuel rail, then just run it and hook up the 5th injector.

With the base 6-7psi he won't need bigger injectors with the E-manage. He can increase duty cycle enough.

Thank for the help! Yea only running the 7 psi pulley and I have an adjustable fpr with gauge so that should help a little. Can I leave the fuel line connected to the 5th injector without the signal wire plug?

So finished up the installation and it fired right up. No CEL's! Drives great except when in VTEC. Only taken it past 6000rpm once because it was running really lean. AFR's are perfect until vtec. The problem is obviously my fuel pressure though.

My fuel pressure at idle is only 35psi and it won't go any higher no matter how much I adjust the fpr. I'm guessing it might be because it's just a shitty fpr (think its a generic ebay one that came used with the kit). Thinking I must have a line crossed or something. It wouldn't even run if I had the return and delivery lines switched on the fpr would it? Seems like I should get an AEM fpr either way.

Thanks!

You installed a new fuel pump right? Do you not have the stock vortech fmu? I wouldn't be using the crappy ebay fpr you have.
I have a Comptech FMU that is adjustable if interested.
