Just wondering if the air filter that comes with the vortech kit is sufficient, or if adding a larger surface filter would yield significant performance. I plan on going up to 12lbs soon and was just curious if it would be worth investigating.
The Vortech filter is just fine IMHO. I was running it with 16 psi.

I've seen people upgrade to like a 3" intake elbow but I don't know of the gains.
"Like a" probably means the 4 inch upgrade.
The t-trim is 3-3/4 inches on the intake and running it with the Vortech 3-1/2 inch intake is like sucking through a straw.
The tubing is a very tight 4 inch radius 4 inch diameter 6061 aluminum. The tubing listed on the enthusiast websites and in catalogs is frequently a softer aluminum alloy or a 6 inch radius that won't fit.
Dyno testing with and without the filter in place showed no change in peak output.
There are a few stock Vortech superchargers running around with the same intake using a 3-1/2 to 4 inch silicone coupler in place of the 3-3/4 to 4 inch couplers shown.
