I don't like how the flexable tube does not line up straight with the airbox. every vortech airbox i've seen you can see the stress on the accordion part of the hose.

Since you modified the box it is probably to late to do it the way Vortech designed it. The aluminum tube is just pushed down and the airbox will hold it down.

It's working fine for me.
We thought about that. But decided it would be better to mod the box instead. The last thing I want to do is crack that pipe and... well deal with that.

From above no one can tell that the box is cut so it isn't a big visual issue so much as it could have been designed much better.

Perhaps I could drill a hole in the top of the box for the hood prop piece to poke through and then that would hold the filter up off of the pipe. I'll take a look and see if that would work and still allow the hood prop to be clipped into place.

xviper, any pics of your new intake setup?

My homemade "umbrella" is needed because I have a vented hood. It also acts as a heat shield. It's made from a soft plastic plant pot.

Geez, between you and me, we both keep the garden centers and Office Depot in business.

sorry to bring back such and old thread but i am wondring if there is anyone running just a straight filter with the vortech supercharger kit? I went to clean mine and it i a pain in the butt to get to the filter. also (hopefully i can describe this right) when i tried to take the airbox out my radiator seemed very loose because not having that bracket. Are all radiotars a little loose? What do you guys think?

Thanks, Jesse P

I'm currently using a 350Z vortech SC filter mounted directly to the SC as my KN-1023 is dirty.

It's a bit smaller than I'd like, and I'm sure it's drawing hot air from the radiator fan. My original plan was to build a airbox around it, just haven't bothered. I've never used the Vortech supplied airbox, it never fit well in my car.

I've used the Vortech filter on the 90deg pipe with no box, The KN 1023 with and without the drycharger wrap, and with and without the Comptech box, and now the 350Z Vortech filter.

No seat of the pants performance difference felt by me, but I'm sure the the hot air models would make less power on a dyno.
