wow, seem like everyone box has gone bad haha i didnt even look at the written instruction, only looked at the picture diagram.

The Comptech box isn't the same philosophy as the Vortech box. CT is just a "signal modifier" to fool the ECU into not seeing boost. It intercepts the MAP signal and alters it. The Vortech tries to do other stuff.
Sometimes, CT's way is better by simplicity but Vortech was endevouring to make things safer and more versatile. They obviously didn't always succeed.

As an aside, I'm still on my original Vortech box. It's been years now and not a hiccup yet (touch wood).

and yes, if i do get that AEM EMS, i def will have to run higher boost.

 

my car has a hard time starting once in a while..could it be the black box causing this....?whenever it happens i just give it a little gas and she starts right up.kinda like a hooptee

You probably connected wrong wires. Follow the wiring diagram.....the written one were wrong at the end part area. Good luck! My Vortech black box is still going and it's almost a year now.
