Default Vortech bypass valve question

Quick dumb question for you guys. I recently installed a 4" pulley onto my Vortech kit (.5" smaller than stock), and have thus moved from approx 7-8psi to approx 10-11psi. When cruising on the freeway at approx 4k rpm, I can hear the valve releasing a bit of air and it is quite annoying. Can I adjust it to stop doing that? Should I adjust it anyways after my pulley swap? I know it has that adjustment screw on the top of it, I just have no idea if I should be messing with it or not?? Thanks!

Probably because at 4k rpm its now producing more boost and opening the valve where before it didn't produce enough and didn't need to. Leave it, or tighten it a TINY bit but make sure with a rev it still blows off without any issues.

the valve should blow off while cruising!

it takes the strain off the compressor. the un-used, but compressed air needs a place to go when cruising. adjusting the valve so it is shut just works the SC extra hard and chops up and heats the aftercooler even more.

it should blow off consistently at idle and consistently from 30-12/14-ish vac while cruising.

(I need to bump this). So with more boost do I need to adjust the BOV at all or just leave it alone?

Leave it alone unless you want to break something...

Unless it was never adjusted properly to begin with.

Forzenboost has a decent instructions for how to setup a bypass/recirculation valve. They are generic enough you can apply to most any valve.

What you actually adjust may differ from one brand of valve to another (add or remove springs, replace spring with different rate, adjust a screw, etc), but what you're trying to achieve and how you know you got it right does not.

I'll leave it alone because I'm sure its as it was from Vortech

I can't be sure but I am confident it is as it was out of the box from Vortech. I'll leave it alone and trust that it will properly blow off all 16 or more pounds of boost every time I tap off.

You have a VTA bov? I’d leave it. SC are always producing constant boost since they are belt driven. You need to have the pressure be able to release whenever the throttle is closed otherwise you could blow apart your piping at the couplers or worse damage the compressor. You’ll get that woosh Between shifts but also get that sound like you’re driving through puddles of water anytime you’re off the throttle.
