Vortech or Comptech

You WILL get the looks with that thing. All the import car nuts will think you've got a turbo under there. Of course, if they really knew their stuff, they'd know better since the supercharger whine is unmistakable. But then, some of those "kids" wouldn't know a supercharger from a leaf blower.
Read my previous reply to RED. I'm still not that impressed with it.

If they can't tell the difference when they're looking at the thing I wouldn't expect them to be able to tell the difference from hearing it.

I like the look of an FMIC, and your setup does look nice, but in a way it's a bit like putting Ferrari emblems on the car or wearing a faux Rolex.

As for the Spearco, it's only the "look". It really doesn't work as it "looks" like it should. It's a huge piece of money for cosmetics. If only it had proportionally more coolant tubes for the size of it, it would be magnificent. It's shameful when you consider that the little dinky stock Vortech rad does as good a job.

A thread discussing magic grounding kits was recently shut down so as not to offend people who'd wasted their money on the junk
There may well be another angle to such threads being shut down. It might be remote, but still a possibility. Unfortunately, the sponsors still contribute largely to "paying the bills" and one of them at one point, was pushing grounding kits very hard. People dumping on these kits may have created a "problem" for the site owners. Sometimes, truth can get in the way of economics. Sad, but a fact of life.
When I bought my FMIC, the seller was a sponsor. Though I never pushed the product, I said nothing about my negative impressions on it till they stopped being a sponsor.
There are many wires that need to be properly connected with the Vortech timing controller. The written directions are INCORRECT. follow the wiring diagram only.
If you don't wire it properly or you have bad connections the symtoms are the same as a "bad" black box.
The t-tap wiring splices supplied by Vortech are well known for causing problems. I don't reccomend using them. Instead use a VAFC PnP harness, and make all your connections to it instead of the engine harness. I reccomend soldering, or heat shrink butt connectors to make you splices.
You will be much more efficient making good wiring connections on a table than lying on your back under the dash.
RED MX5, you also have a PM

^ Must be an echo in here.
Anyway, nice and comforting to have that "echo" be Slows2k.

What about AFR's???
What are both like out of the box?
If I went comptech I thought about getting the 7 psi pulley and upping the fuel pressure to keep it nice under WOT.
However I found out that when you're just cruising around your AFR's are pig rich since you turned up teh fuel pressure... So I'm not going to do that.
Box kits out of the box are around 14.7 around town and 12.0 when boosting?

The Vortech doesn't seem to have this problem as the stock fuel pressure regulator is retained and the FMU doesn't really do anything till boost sets it off.
