Do you guys know if the vortech timing box and the map controller is in the same blackbox or is it two different box? I got the kit used and was trying to install it while my tuner did the engine bay stuff and I did not see the white wire. I looked at the diagram and I don't have the same amount of wires from the black box seems like I'm missing 4 wires.

 

There are 2 boxes. One is the timing box(larger black box) and then there is the MAP block box to hide boost from the ecu.

Trich I saw that I have a 01 and have a 04 kit. The 04 kit didn't come with a map clamp from vortech so if I install this it should work right?

You need something to hide boost from the ecu or it will throw codes and not run right. I have a comptech ESM if interested. It is what comes with the Comptech sc kits and should be a better one compared to the vortech one. Can also get a Blox map block spacer or something. I had hesitation issues using one of those however.

 

The 04 Vortech kit had 1 box that ran timing retard, MAP voltage clamp and aux injector control. The 00-03 kit has 2 boxes, 1 for timing and 1 for MAP voltage clamp.

 

Ah ok nevermind then lol. Didn't know they were different like that. Good to know.

 

Thanks slow s2k. It doesn't make sense to me. There's no wire that tap into the map sensor off the ecu so how would the black box hide boost from the ecu?

 

Have you verified you have the right box for a 04 kit? Do you have a aux injector in the aftercooler?
