Default VORTECH S/C INSTALLED

Hi Guys.

I have been on the forums for roughly 2 years now, but havent realy posted much. Have done a lot of reading though - and I would like to thank all of you
for the invaluable info posted. In South Africa there arent many S2K'S and therefore not much knowledge about the cars. Its because of you guys that I have learnt so much and made various decisions. One of those being my installation of the VORTECH S/C (got my car back on Friday). Dont know anybody
on the boards, but its like I'm part of a family. So yea, thanks again guys.

The S/C is awesome. A little dissapointed with the HP though. Put down 289 on the rollers. I have noticed that most guys have in excess of 300 RWHP.

I have a 73mm POWERFLOW exhaust with stock headers (de-cat). Could this possibly be the reason for shortage in HP? Any recomendations for good header and exhaust?

Also, after a bit of hard driving, the S/C making a loud squealing noise at idle. Is this normal?

Thanks again guys

Congratulations and welcome.
Check to make sure you are getting full boost at redline. The dyno operator should have the information. Loose belt is number one reason for loss of power with a new supercharger. The belt will stretch in the first 100 miles resulting in a major loss of boost.

Well, the tuner has asked me to bring the car back after 1500 km to do an inspection. I trust they will make the necessary adjustments then. If not, will have to mention the belt to him.

Forgive me for asking a stupid question, but how does one tighten the belt?

Thanks

At the top of the forum there are some stickies. This one is very relevant:

It basically is a two part process. Back off the lock nut on the pulley about 1/4 turn then adjust with the adjuster screw and retighten the pulley nut. You will have to remove the bottom shroud to access it. It's a fine line between tight enough and too tight. Check the twist as described for proper tightness.

This is the adjuster screw.

This is the pulley that adjusts.

it looks like you have an AP2 with the vortech, which I also have. I put down 300 to the wheels with a stock exhaust and header, but do not get caught up in how much the dino reads. The dino is great for before and after mod testing, and I am guessing that you did not do a before dino.

Some guys have put down close to 310 with a bolt on dyno, but I think as long as you can feel it pull very hard from 6 to redline you are good to go. Check the boost like sideways mentioned to make sure you get up to 7psi.

You will need to remove the plastic tray under the front of the engine to gain access to the nylon nut(19 mm I believe) that holds the tension pulley in place. Make sure you tighten this nut hard so the force of the pulley does not move onto the tention screw instead. I think a belt will slip at high boost, so I am suprised to hear it happens at idle.

Go find the lst guy that bullied up on you on the street!!

have fun and be careful, the car is a different beast with another 100 ponies.

^^ Exactly,

Dyno numbers mean NOTHING as ALL dynos read different. The only number that matters is the delta (after dyno number minus before dyno number).
