Default Vortech s/c kit run lean with bolts on?

I have been research the vortech and been seeing people stating that with bolts on like header/test pipe/exhaust. Are running lean on a stock vortech kit? Is this a normal thing?

It seems that most vortech kits run lean right out of the box on a stock s2k.I imagine that several exhaust mods would make it run even leaner.Proceed with caution!!!Get it to a dyno with a wideband and verify what you're af ratio. When i installed my vortech last year and dynoed it, i was horrified to see how lean the car was running.Don't guess it could cost you dearly!!

My test pipe alone on my Comptech made a huge a/f difference. Went from 11.5-12:1 to 13-13.5:1.

They run lean "out of the box" and when paired with the T1R, even leaner..I upgraded to AEM, and voila!!!

Get it tuned...be safe.

mine also ran pretty lean with the t1r testpipe and spugen exhuast. At 6k rpms it had a brief hickup to 14.0 to 1

Keep the stock CAT + stock exhaust manifold then you will be fine

I used this method (vafc2) along with a fmu recalibration kit and was able to make my engine run 2 full points richer. When adding fuel with the vafc you also retard the ignition timing slightly. This worked out very well on my stock s2k.Alot of people on this site don't like this method but it has worked very well for me.

I don't see the point of upgrading to a EMS on a stock boost level kit. A EMS would help with a upgrade pulley and bigger injectors. Anymore opinon on a Vafc fixing the lean mixture on a stock level kit ?
