Default Vortech & SOS

I keep thinking that if I get a 06+ AP2 rather than going turbo I will look at a supercharger.

With the available choices I only two that I like are the SOS and the Vortech

So far the Vortech seems to be a much better choice but I would like to hear some of the strengths of each. From what I know the Vortech is cheaper, has a nice air box, has a very durable bypass valve and is backed by their 3/36 warranty. I can't find anything that I would consider to be a Pro with the SOS kit.

Vortech
Satin Tuner---------------$3,900-$4,200

Science Of Speed
Tuner Kit--------------------$4,400
Self Contained Oiling------$100
Larger Radiator------------$330

I have neither installed or seen either of the kits so any input would be appreciated.

For VT, the 3/36K warranty is not covering their tuner kits. You're 1 year.

Both look to be really good options for you. I think the SoS installed looks much cleaner to me (looks like it came with the car). I like my SoS SC, but VT looks to be a good choice as well. I don't know how the VT kit is in regards to the install, but the SoS was well documented and extremely complete in packaging...you didn't need anything other than assorted metric tools and crank tool.

You are right only a 1 Year, what is the SOS?

Just like the SOS there are not permenant changes or parts needed accourding to Vortech.

I personlly like the looks of Vortech better other than the black coated head unit and cooler, which could be easily fixed.

what supercharger does the SOS kit use? that it has self contained oil? and does that mean no tapping of the oil pan?

Looks is subjective, so that's up to you. I like the elongated a/c of the vortech kit because I feel it gives better routing of the aftercooler coolant lines. It also means you don't have to change the stock coolant hose next to it.

Other than that, I prefer most everything else about the SoS kit (hence my purchase). I think the SoS kit is less invasive, has a better S/Cer mounting solution, and looks cleaner. I wouldn't mind some sort of fancy airbox for it, but only because of looks. I'm sure it doesn't do anything performance wise. The biggest deciding factor for me though was that I like dealing with enthusiasts. Chris and the guys at SoS give me the impression that they're enthusiasts first (and S2000 enthusiasts in particular) and businessmen next. My past experience has shown that customer service is always FAR better in that situation. So far, my experience has been first class all the way.

Neither the SL or regular require tapping oil pan. The SL was a Novi 1220 (mine).
