Default Vortech V-2 Supercharger 3.8" Pulley

I have a v-2 supercharger that I bought back in '06. I'm not sure what trim it is as the blower nameplate just say "v-2". I'm have been running the 4" pulley at 12lbs of boost for 4 years, no problem. I have a 3mm headgasket and looking for more boost. Was wondering if the 3.8" pulley is safe to use on the v-2 and is it reliable? I see that Vortech website list the new v-2 SQ sci and si trim at 52000 rpm and 53000 rpm, but I don't know what the max rpm for my trim is. I saw a post by Sideways saying that the max is 50000 rpm. If i use the 3.8" pulley shifting at 9k, the impeller speed is 51158 rpm. Please comment. Thanks.

You can send your Vortech V2 supercharger into Vortech and the can rebuild it which will upgrade it to V2 t-trim which will up the impeller rpm to 53000.... But Sideways is the guy to go to! I have a 3.8" pulley on my Vortech v2 supercharger and its getting tuned this week so we will say how it holds up!

The V-2 is an S trim.

By the Vortech book the limit of the S trim is 50,000 rpm.

I was running my S trim to 53,000 for a couple years.

I became aware of the 50,000 limit after I upped it to 55,000. It was starting to get hot there and 53,000 was much more efficient.

It was making 452 rwhp at 15 psi.

I suggest the 3.8 inch pulley is the smallest you want to go without a re-trim of the supercharger.

The t-trim is another story and I have yet to get it to blow hot spinning up to 56,000. I need to do the $400 bearing upgrade.

Just to up the ante, some of the Mustang racers are spinning the t-trim well beyond 60,000.
Yes, cog drives help at that speed.

How much does Vortech charge for a t-trim? Would it be better than the new V2 SQ Si-trim (52K RPM, 22PSI) or V2 SQ SCi-trim (53K RPM, 17 PSI)? How quiet is t-trim compare to the SQ Si and SCi trim? My V-2 has the distinct "gravel in the can" sound at idle. Was wondering if the other trims has the same noise.

They re-cut your unit so the gear noises will be the same. It's about a grand by the time you ship and all. The intake in enlarged to 3-3/4 inches.

I am under the impression the T-trim will give a little more than the sc or sci trims. They do have great efficiency at lower boost levels.

Thanks Sideways. Think I'll try the 3.8 pulley for now. Getting ready to order the pulley from Vortech. Do you think I can get about 400 whp with it? I'm at 350 whp with the 4" pulley and 3 mm HG. Also, do u have any tips on changing out the pulley? Do I need to remove the supercharger to change it?

S2ksupercharged- please let us know your experience with the new pulley. Let us know your whp and if you installed a HG.

Don't get it from Vortech. The Vortech pulleys are poorly designed and made.

ASP in Texas makes a good one.

Call them, they don't list the S2000 on the web site.

Get rid of that 3mm head gasket and then rock the 14 psi pulley. Will be some great gains. I am over 400whp with the 4" pulley on my s. Stock head gasket of course. No need for a 3mm one. Just risk it blowing.
I will be getting the 3.8" one pretty soon for my car I think.

I need to call vortech and ask them what they rebuilt my v2 to. I sent it through a vortech dealer and he didn't get a spec sheet back from them. But they did tell me they upgraded the impeller and machined the housing to make the new impeller fit. Paid about $870 total. I am waiting to install it, missing a few key items. But I did order that 4" pulley from ASP racing. Great guys and had the pulley the following day at no extra charge.
