Thumbs up VTEC setting with Turbo and AEM EMS

Dear Turbo Heads,

Since I'm being FI for only a few weeks now, everything is new to me. I was used to a smooth power band and the VTEC used to engage no matter what the throttle position was.
What happens to me now is, the car pulls so great at let me say 30-40% throttle, that I don't floor it in traffic anymore.
The problem I am running into is, I pull from l.m.s. 4500rpm and cross 6000rpm (that's where VTEC land begins for stock NA) and the whole engine starts rattling like it will fall apart since it runs on the low cam over 6000rpm. Only when I move the pedal further down, VTEC engages. The tuner says it is set at 60% throttle.

1. Does this make any sense and what is this (VTEC only from 60-100WOT) good for?
2. How are your setting and where does the VTEC engage on your cars?6000rpm?Or higher?
3.As far as I remember, SC guys used to lower VTEC to have a smooth pull, now UL suggests to raise by 500rpm to 65000rpm to take out the pre-VTEC dip. Will this help?

ANy help is more than appreciated, thanks in advance

just lower your throttle requirement to activate vtec and you will be fine
the engine should not rattle with the low cam anyway.

FYI My car got tuned once without a functional speedo and we ran low cam all the way to 9500rpm It still made very good power.

Have you logged your air fuel ratios when your engine "rattles to shit"?
Have you looked at your knock values? I would check these first, as it sounds to me like major detonation, which is a tuning issue and must be looked at.
As for the TPS position, try lowering it and see if it helps. Generally, when Im partial throttle, Im shifting by 4krpm; it goes to the floor if I need to rev higher Just hinting at how Ive never experienced this.

Cody I guess the rattle comes from the heat shield. SInce one of the oil feed lines start leaking on the dyno, we had to remove the heat shield to fix the problem.Since than it's rattling. I am changing coolant today, if she still coockes the water, I drive to the port and push her into the sea

jakub, tinker is right. If you do a log you will find that your AF is more than likely lean during this rpm. VTEC is an amazing thing VTEC lobe requires less fuel and produces more power for the same AF ratio as the non vtec lobe.

I did not want to tell you that before to avoid panic.
Just lower your VTEC rpm requirement in the ?Setup/Vtec/advance and you will be fine.

We have logged the A/F ratios during the dyno run, but that was flat out means VTEC kicked in @ 6K like it should. So you guys say it might be that once I reach for exampole 7000rpm but on the LOW cam, I am rnning lean? Will need to check that 2nite.
