Default Walbro 255 issues

Hey everyone-

I read on here about the sock that comes with the fuel pump will not work without messing with the fuel float. I also read that it is possible to just reuse the stock fuel sock. I have not been able to find out how the stock fuel sock connects to the new fuel pump. Here are a couple of pics, any help would be appreciated. I followed the Vortech instructions for swapping the pump, but it just says to reuse the stock sock, which I cannot see how that happens.

Pic 1:
This is of the new fuel pump installed. Notice how it has 1 large opening on the bottom for the fuel sock.

Pic 2:
This is of the OEM pump, notice how it has 2 smaller holes for the mounting bracket that is attached to the OEM fuel sock.

Anyone know how I am supposed to adapt these two together? Also, it does not appear as if the OEM cap that goes on the bottom will fit anymore (Pic 3). Any suggestions?

Thanks again guys!

John

As far as the cap fitment goes, I just transplanted the OEM fuel hose. Should I just trim it down until the cap fits?
