Default Water Injection w/ CTSC

Going with the Comptech SC. Im trying to save a buck so im gettin the base kit. I know the the aftercooler drops intake temps significantly and protects from detonation. But with water/meth injection and the base kit will i be okay? Will i be able to run it just as hard and be safe and reliable?

You'll be ok with the base kit as it is. Water injection might be nice, but it is certainly not necessary. I ran a base kit Comptech SC with 8lb pulley and did track days without a problem.

Until you run out of water.

I have often considered WI. I replaced the head gasket on a Civic that was leaking coolant into the 2nd and 3rd cylinders and was amazed at how clean they were. Whenever I see a WI kit on ebay I bid on it.

WARNING!!! Noobie question to follow:

I thought water in the cylinders was a bad thing. Why would you want to put water in there?

water injection sprays a very fine atomized mist, it's not as if it's just dumping water into the cylinders. It cools the charge air which raises your knock threshold which would allow you to run more boost and/or more timing without worrying about detonation. I have considered water injection before for my S (was looking at the aquamist systems) but the car isn't knocking and I'm not planning on turning up the boost any time soon so I'm just going to hold off.

freshs2k:

I also have the base comptech kit and also considered installing a water injection kit this spring. Let me know how it is if you wind up beating me to it

Here's an old thread about it:

Water injection

Has anyone considered meth injection on a Comptech SC? Does it work as well as it does on the Evo?

Meth injection is great, but you're wasting your money if you are not boosting in the 15+psi range. Not to mention unless you have an EMS you're really wasting your time because the benifit of meth is you can increase timing. If you don't have a way to increase timing there really is no point in doing it.
