Default Welll.... I failed the compression test :( (UPDATED)

Looks like I have SOME kind of damage. Me and a friend who is a certified Honda Tech did some work on the car. I do indeed have a issue w/ cylinder 3.

#1 197psi
#2 200psi
#3 151psi
#4 196psi

So we're HOPING its a cracked valve etc. Otherwise.... I'm gonna have a laskey fully built bottom end at some point here when I can afford to do the major upgrade.

Bummers

I found no metal in the oil or oil filter though, so it sounds like the bottom end is healthy and it's only a valve issue???? I hope?

Are you built or have a 3mm headgasket, those numbers seem really low

do a leak down test. that should tell you if its a ring, headgasket or head issue.

Not built/stock gasket. I was wondering if the numbers were low... only 40k on the motor and never pushed much past 300whp always a safe tune and only 7.25psi so I would want to think the comp. gauge was reading low

Ya I don't have a leak down equip so I have to borrow that from a friend this week.

I found NO metal in the oil so that's a good sign I guess.

Thoughts?

Soul coughing any info you have is always appreciated.

Peanut Butter: You must then know the correct psi for the compression test??? I searched and found these:

****************************
According to the service manual the S2K has 228 psi per cylinder with a max variation (up/or down) of 28psi.
****************************

^ So im just under the 28psi variation but def. on the low side..... or was it the small PC680MJ battery not able to turn the motor over hard enough?

interesting read.... another guy 1 year of turbo put the same numbers as me except a few psi higher and NO F#@$'d UP cylinder #3.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry1896756

I DID NOT DROP OIL IN THE CYLINDER NOR WAS THE ENGINE WARM WHEN WE TESTED......

Not sure how much difference that'd make. I would assume SOME difference.

Only reason it seems low to me is because we did my motor with the IP Headgasket and got 201/201/200/198

^ IP is 3mm not just 2mm so thats a huge ammount I'm down.

Did you do this with the motor warm at all even? My motor hadn't run in AT LEAST 2-3hrs when we performed it.

do it when warm, make sure you have all the other plugs out as it will crank faster and keep them from getting all wet with fuel. Crank it about 4 revolutions and see what you get. Good luck!

WE did it once when warm and once when cold.
Numbers were damn close. Cold it was a tad lower
