I think it really depends on tune. Mine's set at 4700.

All you need is a stand alone ECU so you can adjust the fuel and timing along with the V-tec transition point. With a supercharger the F20C loves a lower V-tec engagement point but remember you need to drive on the street without V-tec some of the time. There is a limit to how low you can go and still be streetable. I have V-tec transition about 4900 rpm currently and am considering going 100-200 rpm lower now that I have big rear tires.
Check out your normal driving habbits and record the rpms you run at on the freeway, highway, etc. Keep it just above your freeway rpms.

well... mine is still at 6000 since i dont have any standalone ecu.

but i think 5000 should be optimal engagement point.

I've got an EMS, and mine is currently set to engage at 4200rpm, 0.12 lbs of boost, and > 30% TPS, off at < 20% TPS.

4200 rpm was the point where the high and low cam's torque curves intersected on *MY* car on the dyno. With my current load and throttle position settings, I can't feel when vtec kicks on anymore. It's THAT smooth.

Ditto what he said. Mine worked out to 4400.

I have mine set at 4200 as per my dyno tune. It was previously set at 4700 but from what I remember there was a dip in power at switchover and now it seems to be smoothed out.

Thanks for all the replies, the general consensus seems to be that a much lower switch point is benificial.

I have a VAFC which I'm not going to use for fuel adjustment, only to alter the VTEC point.

I was thinking of setting my to like 5,500 on my 04.

What did you mean by dip in power? What causes this?

The best point will be 4300.
