Default What clutch are you using?

I'm getting a Vortech Supercharger installed this month, and I would like to replace the clutch. Any tips on which clutch to use? I'm on a bit of a budget, just bought a new soft top with a glass window, the blower, and tires, so cash is running thin. On the other hand I'd rather be safe than sorry and want a quality clutch. Any suggestions? Retailers to buy one from?

Everyone recommended the Hardtopguy clutch package and I was not dissapointed. It has ACT pressure plate, stock disc and comptech flywheel. I have a comptech SC and it works great.

I'm still on the stock clutch which is still holding up well. I wouldn't want to do a track day on it though. I would recommend saving up and get the HTG package.

Stock clutch here too...

A lot will depend on your driving style. There a quite a few members who are FI that are still on stock clutches. Depending on how you drive you can make it last a long time before upgrading.

Thinking about how I drive is what is making me interested in buying one, but I certainly don't need to spend another 1000$ on my car right now. I was hoping for 300-500 range. Did anyone replace their timing belt when installing the SC?

It's a timing "CHAIN" and it should last the life of the car. Few have made adjustments to the tensioner.

My timing chain tensioner went bad - plan to replace that this Sunday/Monday actually.

I am using the Hardtopguy Clutch Special and am very happy with it!

if you're goin cheap, i think you go do withought the HTG package... just get an act presure plate (350-400 on ebay), oem disk and throwout bearing (150 HTG) and install it yourself (install is quite difficult from what i've heard).

As others have said, a lot depends on how you drive. I'm running Comptech SC/AC with the stock clutch. I have done full burnouts and numerous hard launches, and the stock clutch has had NO problems at all dealing with the extra power. Depending on your technique/style you may find that the stock clutch is quite up to the task, and given my own experience and the fact that your budget is tight, I have to suggest giving the stock clutch a try. I budgeted money for both clutch and diff upgrades, but it now appears that I'll be able to reallocate those funds elsewhere.

It won't be any harder to change the clutch later if you determine that the stock unit won't work for you.
