As the title states do you guys get extra coverage for being f/i? If so who is a good company to use especially you inline pro guys. How much extra do you typically pay.

You will need to insure the car for aftermarket parts valued at replacement cost. Not cheap. I cannot quote you my rate, as I am also paying for my wife's car as well (combined quote). You will need to set the replacement value for the agent, its just an additional rider policy, similar to a wedding ring policy on a house.

My conversation with my agent went something like this:

(After establishing the base rate)

Me: "I also have like $2000 in aftermarket parts on the car (Pre-FI, I need to update that). How much will I have to pay to have those insured instead of the OEM parts?"
Agent: "How much would it cost to replace these parts?"
Me: "About $2000"
Agent: "OK. If I add the additional coverage, it will be $xxx.xx per month extra."
Me: "OK, add it."

DONE!

My agent wanted to come check out the parts and appraise their value as they are. It kind of saved me some money getting sort of a depreciated value (resaleable value).

I am insured with SafeCo (a Progressive Co.) on my parents plan, with Comprehensive (OTC) insurance plus $2800 worth of aftermarket parts, also on the plan is my daily a 1990 Civc DX hatch with 218,XXX miles, and my bill is $900 every 6 months ($150 a month).
