Default What drivetrain mods are needed for 350-400 hp

Hi again,

Wondering what “I should haves” I might be missing. At 400 hp do I have to use solid mounts for the diff or the motor? Anything else? I have a stock radiator and all mounts are stock. I do have a puddymod stage 2 diff.

Thanks in advance,

Jonn

For street I say nothing is needed with that power level. With a Stage 2 diff you're overbuilt if you ask me unless you like to launch the car. I assume you already have an aftermarket clutch and if not google ACT combo or Science Of Speed clutch.

I would stay away from any solid mounts, especially if you are on OEM ECU aka Hondata/Flashpro/Doctronics, etc. Added vibrations could be registered as knock, at which point you'd desensitize your knock sensor and that's just silly and I don't care if anyone on here tries to argue with me about it. It's silly to do.

For track others will respond, who track their cars.

What EOE said. Unless you're drag/dig racing, you're good there. What is your use for the car? A fun street car has different needs than a track day car.

Thanks,

Just keeping the car a fun street car. I daily drive it for a few years (at 6 lbs).
I’ll auto cross a few times I’m sure.

all you need is a beefier clutch for your goals. ACT PP with an OEM friction disk is probably the way to go in terms of drive-ability.

^^ Agreed - just an appropriately rated clutch. Nothing more.

Run a fuel that doesn't know, then shape where your knock control will come into play... You should be doing something like this anyway (there's other ways to do it as well).

That said, I can't say I've ever had a motor mount cause an issue with knock registering. In the nearly 20 years I have been tuning, I've heard people mention it on boards, but I have never experienced it.
