Default What is this small black wire for in the fuel pump assembly

This small black wire in the fuel pump is for what? One end just attaches to the plastic fuel pump housing and the other end goes to a ground wire. My fuel full has been acting up can this be the cause? I do t see the purpose of this wire since it's just coneected to the plastic fuel pump housing.

I think it's some type of oem ground wire. I wired my pump w/ the SOS relay kit and I think they mention in the install instructions to remove that.

You running a separate relay for your pump? If so, feel free unplug and cut that wire off at the plug.
