What supercharger for 5 to 6k?
Its about bonus and tax refund time. Car is paid off and I have a dd now. I think I'll have 5 to 8k to play with. What supercharger and ems would you recommend? I have always been drawn to comp tech and I would like 400rwhp all said and done. I do not want to turbo. I will do all labor myself short of tuning.
I just would like some input as I can only look at so many websites selling them. Honestly I have not looked at too many builds but I've been eyeing superchargers since I bought the car 5 years ago.
I've read I'll need a clutch and others say it's a waste. I already have exhaust and tp. Car is a 2005 and has 80k or so miles.
Thanks

I just went with SOS stage 2 and have no complaints. It's supposed to be very reliable and fairly easy to install if you know what you're doing. You'll save a lot of money doing the install yourself. I also went with the sis clutch and flywheel. I'm using haltech for ems.
Things you will need for 400whp
List of musts:
Supercharger: SOS Stage 2 (4800$+shipping+extras new) (3700-4000 used with some added stuff)
EMS: AEM EMS Series 2 / Haltech ($1250 new or 1000ish used)
Injectors: ID 1000cc injectors ($480 new / $400 used)
Fuel pump: AEM 320lph or something around there ($100 new)
Wideband: AEM or innovative ($180 ish new / $130/140 used)
Optionalish items are
upgraded heat exchanger
clutch/PP and flywheel
more gauges
BOV welded
I'm right around the 400whp number, I have pretty much everything on this list with a clutch about to go in soon. My clutch has held up perfectly, more of a precautionary step

Could be a fuel thing, I'm on 94 octane (Canada) More likely some sort of restriction somewhere. The 1220 shouldn't have any problems hitting 400 and change.
However if I were to do it again I'd go with a 1200 for the pure added power potential.
My setup is probably pretty close to what you're looking for. Also the new Kraftwerks kit is something to consider since recent feedback and results have been encouraging although initially several members here had issues. I have no complaints with my SOS 2 and have put 30k miles on it already including long road trips. Go with the 1200 and upgraded heat exchanger for sure.

If i remember correctly, the 1220SL is just a Novi1000 that self lubricates which means 400whp is really the highest it can go.
To the OP, is always advise getting SC kits that use the Novi blowers (Comptech, CT Engineering, SOS, Vortech). They are popular blowers used on many different vehicles, and there are an abundance of information out there regarding them so if a problem were to ever arise, diagnosing should be quite easy.

Not the same, the 1220 puts out 1050CFMs vs the 1000 puts out 850CFMs.
The 1200 in comparison is rated for 1150CFMs
