Default When you supercharge...

I'm thinking about supercharging my bone stock s2000. The engine's got 34K on it. My question is when you install the kit can the car's transmission and engine handle it? Do you need to upgrade the clutch and flywheel? Do the tires spin almost all the time?

Yes, the tranny and engine can handle it. Many stock S's have been "blown" for years without problems. Of course, this doesn't account for abuse, which can break anything.
Upgrade the clutch when you need to. Mine's been S/Cd for 2.5 years and I'm on the stock clutch. I'm only beginning to think it needs replacement next year. No, the tire don't spin "all the time". 300 whp is not a lot for a 3000 lb car.

Thanks viper. Did you have someone install yours or did you DIY? I got a buddy who is a badass at installing stuff, but his experience is mainly in American cars. Think he'll know what the hell he is doing?

I would say if you have a reasonable level of experience this wouldnt be too hard.

I would make sure you read through the manual thoroughly and through some of the install guides on here. The Vortech instructions could be better I think.

I did my own install. It's documented in a "How To" thread linked in the "FAQs" at the top of Technical in UTH.

also wondering if you really need a header with a SC setup? doesnt seem like it gives you alot of gains for the cost even with the SC installed...Im thinking about just using the money for something else and just running the stock manifold with a 3inch exhaust and test pipe....thanks for your input
Both existing supercharger kits for this car was designed to be bolted onto an otherwise stock car. It is not a requirement to get a header or cat back exhaust unless you want to.

No. Many S2000s have been running this kind of increase for years. Maintenance and avoiding abuse is important.

I'm on my stock clutch but occasionally when I push the car it slips...so I'm planning on replacing my clutch this spring. During my regular driving, it's fine.

Also, I'm planning on getting a header plus maybe sparrow dual exhaust to extract some more power along with a 7lb pulley. I'm hoping for 320+ whp.
