Default Where to buy adapter flange for Tial?

Hi All,

I am hoping to upgrade from my Turbosmart BOV to a TiAL with 1.5LB spring for Supercharged application.

I understand that I would need to purchase a flange as well, is that correct? I am looking for proper functionality with 11psi pulley and also quiet-ish operation.

Many Thanks,

Dmitriy

Will it bolt on directly to the Aftercooler without any issues?

Why make the switch from a fully capable turbo smart valve to a Tial? Your only making 11psi. Im not even sure if Tial makes an adapter for the comptech aftercooler. Come to think of it, one member here was custom machining an adapter for himself and a few others. After the cost of the Tial and the pain in the ass to make it work/fit, just doesn’t seem to make sense to go that rout, especially so if you already are running the alternative. If you want it quieter, run the turbo smart in the recirc config.

The job of the BOV is to evacuate air in an effective capacity matched to the volume of air your blower or turbo is producing so that it does not back up the system, blowing off clamps and blower seals. The noise of the unit is in more direct relationship to how much volume and pressure of air your evacuating from the blower, in other words how fast its spinning (size of pulley and engine rpm) More evacuation the safer, which means louder. Unless you recirc it.

The turbo smart has plenty of evac capability for 11psi+

Not sure of the flange on comtech aftercoolers, but ATP sells an adapter that would fit a greddy flange (would fit vortech aftercoolers).

Coolguy094 made a limited run of flanges that are a direct bolt on to the Comptech aftercooler. I don't think he has any plans on making anymore. I have one and it an extremely well designed and manufactured piece. Works flawlessly.

I CNCed a bottom plate and am having the tial flange welded to it, which will then bolt right up to the aftercooler. I should have the CAD file for the lower plate if you want it, but don't plan on making any more myself. I can post pics in here once I get it back from the welder.

Thank you all for responding!

lleron,
That probably wouldn't be a bad idea, not jsut for myself but maybe for others who are looking to upgrade?

tom153,
I don't think that flange would fit on the Comptech Aftercooler. Comptech seems to have 4 bolts.

s2000Junky,
TurboSmart has the wrong spring and doesn't blow off at idle... yes even when I adjust it to the lightest pressure. It is also 6+ years old. Last time I serviced and cleaned it I noticed scoring inside and worry that at times it doesn't hold boost that well, I could be wrong but need to test it.

You wouldnt happen to know where I can get a lighter spring for the turbosmart BOV then?

You could also just have the Tial flange welded directly onto your aftercooler and the 4 bolt holes filled in, which is probably the easiest/cheapest solution, but then you will only be able to mount Tial valves from then on.
