I'm in the process of installing a GM 3 Bar MAP sensor. I want to mount it off the intake manifold and direct the vacuum hose to it. I am curious where others have mounted and connected the aftermarket MAP sensor. Would distance from the engine make any difference. I am aware of older US cars with factory map sensors mounted on the firewall.

Well, since you asked, here are a couple of pictures of how I mounted mine.
Interesting. Did you block off the old map sensor for a vacuum fitting? Custom part? I'm planning on (pending any problems) leaving my old one in place for the everyother year smog check and tapping the vacuum line on the manifold. That is a nifty way to get the vacuum though.
I'm not sure I understand your question, but the MAP vacuum/pressure is read from the same port that the stock one uses. I can't take credit for this idea though - CB80 did it first.
Would anybody mind explaining what this accomplishes? Is it 3 Bar as in 44.1psi? Or does it physically have additional measuring devices so it is more accurate. Thanks!
With the stock MAP sensor you can only boost to about 11 psi. With a 3 Bar sensor you can boost up to about 30 psi. So if you are not boosted above 11 psi it won't accomplish anything.
